Counselling for admission to private medical and dental colleges began on Sunday with the Association of Private Dental and Medical Colleges of Madhya Pradesh (APDMCMP) maintaining utmost secrecy about the merit list and the counselling procedure.
Even the students who came out after counselling parried questions and maintained silence over counselling and its pros and cons.
The counselling was also delayed by a few hours as some parents raised objections over the association not releasing a comprehensive merit list.
The counselling continued till late night and more than 300 seats were allotted to students till the report was filed. An official of APDMCMP said on condition of anonymity that they may close counselling after filling 320 seats on the first day.
In the first round of counselling, the students with up to 600 rank in the Dental and Medical Test (DMAT-2015) participated. The allotment of seats took place in two sessions for which students were divided into two equal groups.
A batch of another 600 students will be participating in the second round of counselling on Monday. The counselling will continue till Tuesday.
Neither guardians nor any other person was allowed to enter the counselling area.
The counselling is being conducted for admissions on 471 MBBS course seats of eight medical colleges in the state.
Registration of candidates, allotment of seats and fees submission process was carried out during counselling.
Meanwhile, after getting approval from the Supreme Court, the RKDF Medical College of Bhopal also participated in the counselling for DMAT-2015.
Saklecha to file petition in High Court
Whistleblower in DMAT scam and former MLA Paras Saklecha, who had filed a petition in the high court for holding the test in a transparent manner, also seemed dissatisfied with the manner in which DMAT merit list was declared. Saklecha said he will file a petition in the court on Monday requesting proper scrutiny of DMAT results.
