DL Kentavius Street likely going to season-ending IR

Kentavius Street missed all of his rookie season following a torn ACL that cut his final college season short. Now it looks like he’s going to miss his entire second season as well. Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters in a press conference Tuesday that Street is going to have his knee scoped after dealing with pain throughout the preseason. He’s likely to wind up on injured reserve.

If Street hits IR before the final 53-man roster is announced, his season would be over. The former fourth-round pick was having a good camp and performed well in his limited preseason action.

Street missed nearly the entire year last year, but got into practice late in the season to get his feet wet in an NFL setting.

The injury could open up a roster spot for a player like defensive end Damontre Moore, who’s played well in the preseason. It could also allow the club to keep an extra player at a different position. Wide receiver would be the logical choice with injuries and question marks lingering in a relatively deep group.
