DL Davon Godchaux expects Miami to outwork and outlast the competition

The Miami Dolphins have their work cut out for them. If the early returns on off-season workouts are any indication, head coach Brian Flores is going to have this team on the hoof. A lot.

That was a primary takeaway from defensive lineman Davon Godchaux yesterday from the first few weeks of voluntary workouts — this team is going to run.

“We’re going to run. We’re going to be the most in-shape team, I can tell you that,” said Godchaux when asked for his initial impressions of head coach Brian Flores. “That’s probably the only thing I can tell you. The bottom line is we are going to be the most in-shape team.”

That is an area that the Dolphins can exploit, particularly when you consider their home field advantage here in South Florida. When teams from Buffalo, Boston and New York come south in December to play a game in the South Florida humidity and heat, it can be a game changer.

But if the Dolphins have decided — on top of that natural advantage — that they’re going to be the most fit team in the league? That can be a devastating combination down the road as the Dolphins add more talent to their roster.
