DK Metcalf was saved from a boneheaded decision not to go out of bounds with Seahawks out of timeouts

Man, this could have been an all-timer of an awful play by D.K. Metcalf in the Seattle Seahawks’ 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Instead, the wideout was saved by his teammates speed and execution of a no-timeout spike to line up and tie the game in regulation with one second left with a field goal.

With the Hawks down 20-17 with no timeouts and a 2nd-and-three in Steelers territory, Geno Smith completed a pass to Metcalf along the sideline. The receiver was RIGHT THERE AT THE SIDELINE … but he chose to make a move and he fumbled.

It was recovered by a teammate, but the Seahawks needed to line up, with no false start and spike it. They did with literally one second left.

The injured Russell Wilson even made a cameo to yell at the Seahawks to move:

A near-disaster, averted!
