DK Metcalf says he’s 100% ready to play Week 1 against Bengals

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf says he is “100 percent” ready to play Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, having recovered from the knee surgery that kept him out of most of the preseason.

Despite not seeing much playing time, the rookie receiver stated he learned a few things on the sidelines that should serve him well in the regular season.

“I sharpened up my mental game,” Metcalf told reporters via ESPN. “I got to learn the offense a little more. Coming from that first game, I kind of got used to the speed of the game. I can’t wait to be back out there Sunday.”

The Seahawks will most likely need Metcalf early in the season, as the team does not possess much receiving talent besides No. 1 target Tyler Lockett. Seattle brought back Jaron Brown after roster cuts and John Ursua has displayed potential, but they are largely unproven.

Regarding the situation, Metcalf nicknamed himself “Wolverine” in reference to the way he heals quickly from injuries.

“He doesn’t stay down for long,” Metcalf said. “If he gets a cut or a bruise or something, then it goes away immediately. I’ve been dealing with injuries for the past couple of months, and they’ve kind of lingered around for a little bit and then go away.”

The Seahawks will likely see Metcalf on the field in Week 1 against Cincinnati. The game is set to kick off at 1:05 p.m. PT.
