Djimon Hounsou accuses former partner of domestic abuse

Djimon Hounsou has claimed he was punched by his former partner

Djimon Hounsou has accused his ex-girlfriend of domestic abuse.

Riza Simpson was arrested last week by the Atlanta Police Department and charged with obstruction and simple assault - family violence in connection with an alleged incident on 2 December, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over her living arrangements.

According to a police report obtained by Entertainment Weekly, the Blood Diamond actor told police Riza had punched him in the face after she was "given a notice to vacate the premises since he does not want her to be at the residence".

The document added: Mr. Hounsou stated that Ms. Simpson has been living there for about three to four years now and share two kids together.

"Mr. Hounsou stated that after telling Ms. Simpson to leave, Ms. Simpson was upset and stood by the driver side door of his vehicle inside the garage to retrieve a set of keys for the house when he was trying to leave the location.

"Mr. Hounsou stated that Ms. Simpson then begins to strike his face with a closed fist causing his left eye to be red and slightly swollen. Mr. Hounsou stated that he recently got surgery on his eyes prior from him being hit to his left eye. Mr. Hounsou left the house to come to the Zone 2 precinct to document this incident."

The report noted the 61-year-old actor - who has 16-year-old son Kenzo with Kimora Lee Simons, and a son and daughter who have been kept out of the spotlight with Simpson - had suffered "bruising and/or swelling" and that his children were upstairs at the time of the alleged altercation and "did not see the incident but possibly heard it."

Police gave the Gladiator star instructions on how to obtain a temporary protective order and how the eviction process works in the county.

The obstruction charge against his former partner relate to her allegedly "providing false information and refusing to comply with lawful commands."

According to Us Weekly, Simpson was released from the Atlanta City Detention Center on Tuesday (20.01.26) after posting a $500 bond but was then moved to Fulton County Jail due to the arrest warrant.

A court hearing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (21.01.26), a representative of the prison confirmed to the outlet.
