DJ promoting Liverpool artists in special mix for BBC1 Radio 1Xtra

BBC Radio 1Xtra Touchdown is to broadcast their entire show live from Liverpool today.

They will be celebrating local talent from DJs to artists and hope to get to know more about the city's growing music scene. BBC Radio 1Xtra will connect with artists and DJs in the area and speak to special guests about the rising prominence of Liverpool on the UK’s music scene.

The show will feature a live performance from Liverpool artists Kasst and AJFromThe8, as well as a special guest DJ mix from local DJ Hannah Lynch, who has put together a set made up entirely of music from Liverpool artists. The show will feature artists such as Paisleigh, Raincastillo, SSJ, Whatface, and more.

As part of DJ Hannah's mix of music from Liverpool artists will feature PhillyD, Koj, Smokey L8 and Kof to name a few. The special show is part of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s UK Touchdown Tour which has seen the station head to a total of 22 different cities across April including Birmingham, Newcastle, Cardiff, Manchester, Brighton, Edinburgh, Belfast and more.

Hannah told the ECHO : "After being a fan of 1xtra for years it’s great that my first featured guest mix is fully dedicated to Liverpool artists.

"Representing Liverpool is something that is incredibly important to me as a DJ as well as pushing upcoming talent. As a member of Girls Don't Sync; championing the next generation of talent is integral to what we do and this mix is a perfect representation of that.

"Liverpool right now is just thriving with some of the most incredible urban artists, as part of DJ Targets UK touchdown tour. I have been honoured to represent Liverpool and play some of the hottest tracks from some of the most talented artists within the city right now. My guest mix which is a representation of my love for the music scene within the city".

About what is in store for the future Hannah, said: "It’s always been a dream of mine to even attend Glastonbury Festival so the fact we are going as artists is just unreal and the opportunity means everything to me and (Girls Don’t Sync). My biggest inspiration has always been my Dad (DJ 2kind) He has taught me everything I know and has always fully supported me in everything I do."

Philly D, who is featured on the show said: “I’m so excited to be part of the UK Touchdown Tour, repping my hometown and showing how much talent there is in this city. Big up DJ target and 1Xtra for supporting Liverpool artists.”

1Xtra's DJ Target said: "At 1Xtra, we’re all about finding and supporting the best new talent wherever they are in the UK and there are some incredible artists coming up in Liverpool’s scene right now. This tour is an amazing way for us to connect with the region and shine a spotlight on Liverpool."
