DJ Khaled has opened up about a photo he shared on social media showing Kanye West still wearing his wedding ring amid his ongoing divorce with Kim Kardashian.
The 45-year-old music star drew attention from Kimye fans on Thursday when he shared a snap of 43-year-old Kanye on Instagram.
The image showed Kanye sitting with his arms reaching skyward as he sat, eyes closed, listening to some of Khaled’s new music.
Many followers noted that the Jesus Walks rapper was still wearing his wedding ring – the image shared over two months since it was the musician is being divorced by 40-year-old Kim.
Some fans hoped Khaled’s candid photo offered some hope that Kim and Kanye might yet salvage their marriage.
One commented: “Ye still has his wedding ring on I hope they work things out.”
And another wrote: “Kanye wearing his wedding ring tells me he is still committed to his wife @kimkardashian Please fight for your marriage....I can’t imagine how hard it is but fight for what you built.”
But Khaled has now revealed more about the image he shared, explaining he took the snap before it was revealed Kim and Kanye were to divorce.
He told Entertainment Tonight: "First of all, God bless him and his family, remember this was a while ago, and when I say a while ago, like, when I was first starting to create my album.
"And I was just playing him song ideas I had so this was long, not too long ago, this was like way before, you know, all that and I want to send my love to him and his family and his kids, you know what I mean?”
He added: “God bless him and his whole family, you know?"
DJ Khaled’s new album, titled Khaled Khaled, was released on Friday and features collaborations between the DJ and a host of high profile stars.
Recent Oscar winner H.E.R features on the new record, as well as music superstars Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, and Justins Timberlake and Bieber.
