DJ Fatboy Slim to throw free concert for NHS and frontline staff after coronavirus crisis

DJ Fatboy Slim has announced plans to put on a free concert for NHS and frontline workers to thank them for their hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The iconic musician - real name Norman Cook - announced the news over Twitter on Wednesday.

He has specially invited all NHS staff, including doctors and nurses, and those working on the frontline to the event which will be held on October 28.

The famous DJ is giving back to the special workers who are tirelessly trying to fight off the deadly virus as the nation remains in lockdown.

In his big announcement, he wrote: "An invitation to all NHS doctors, nurses, support workers, porters and cleaners + all blue light staff, ambulance, police and fire service (+ importantly their +1's)."

He then gave details of the event, which will be held at the Brighton Centre, and how those eligible can apply for tickets.

Each person is able to bring a guest with them to the concert, but two tickets are required to be shown upon entrance.

Tickets will be on sale from Friday April 17, and must be "purchased" although they are free.

All eligible staff will have to provide their valid NHS or Primary Care Trust ID card during ticket checks at the show.

It comes as a total of 12,868 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK, as of 5pm on Tuesday.

Speaking tonight, Health Secretary Matt Hancock explained he wants to ensure that loved ones can be with those who are dying from the coronavirus.

After the death of Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, 13, who died alone, Matt said he wanted "closest loved ones" to be there wherever possible.
