DJ duo will perform at first music festival in Crieff

Two top Radio 1 DJs have been announced for the very first Crieff Highland Gathering Music Fest.

Scott Mills and Chris Stark from BBC Radio 1, are both confirmed to be performing in the town on Saturday, August 17.

In the past few years, the Highland gathering in the Strathearn town’s Market Park has been offering live music in its Glenturret Music Arena.

However, it has proved so popular the organisers of the event will this year be launching the Highland Gathering Music Fest, with an afternoon of live music ahead of the main event on the Sunday.

Other bands confirmed for the Music Fest include Red Dog, The Bulletholes, The Return and Scoogz.

Anna McLean, chair of Crieff Highland Gathering, said the board of directors is delighted at being able to secure the top DJs.

She said: “Crieff Highland Gathering is extremely proud of its reputation as Scotland’s premier Highland games.

“We are unsurpassed when it comes to the diversity of things to experience during your day with us and we never stop looking for way to improve the experience, the magic, the thrills and give our guests an even more unforgettable visit.

“Since it first started, the Glenturret Music Arena has been phenomenally popular due to the exceptionally high calibre acts that we have had performing and we are extremely excited to announce that this year we will be bringing to you the Crieff Highland Gathering Music Fest.

“This Saturday afternoon live music extravaganza will entertain you with fabulous quality music, food and refreshments guaranteed to get you fired up for the next day.

“The Saturday will feature local bands Red Dog, The Bulletholes, The Return and Scoogz followed up with Scott Mills and Chris Stark of BBC Radio 1 fame.”

Tickets to the Highland gathering on Sunday, August 18 automatically give visitors entry to the music festival as well.

On the Sunday, there is even more live music in the Glenturret Music Tent, with Gnoss, Drums n’ Roses and Trongate Rum Riots performing alongside the traditional Highland games.

Weekend tickets are priced at £25 for adults and £15 for children and can be bought in advance online via Eventbrite.

Organisers are also keen to encourage families to go along to both the music festival on the Saturday and the Highland games on the Sunday.
