The Jacksonville Jaguars have had their share of ups and downs this regular season but one of the positives has certainly been receiver DJ Chark. The second-year receiver has made significant strides from his rookie season, which was filled with drops, penalties and pretty much any type of negative play a player can make. However, a year makes a world of difference.
Chark is easily the Jags most improved player in 2019 and Pro Football Focus has taken note to him, too. With the Jags currently on their bye week, they have him down as the No. 11 ranked receiver in the NFL.
11. D.J. CHARK JR., JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Like Sutton, Chark is a second-year receiver that has blossomed into quite the threat in 2019. The former LSU standout currently ranks 11th in yards per route run (2.08) and has dropped just one pass on 67 total targets. More than just a deep threat, Chark has flashed brilliance in contested-catch situations and slowly expanded his route tree in Year 2 of his NFL career.
Chark will have 43 receptions for 692 receiving yards and six touchdowns to his name when the Jags return to the field Week 11. However, instead of having the quarterback who favorited him as his No. 1 target in Gardner Minshew II, he’ll have to re-adapt to Nick Foles. Then again, the two linked up for the Jags’ first regular season touchdown of the year so it shouldn’t be that hard to get going again.
Heading forward the Jags will need Foles and Chark to get things together quickly as the Jags have to climb out of a 4-5 hole. Their first opponents will be the Indianapolis Colts, who rank 15th against the pass.
