DIYer transforms 'cold' lounge using £9.99 B&M wallpaper to make stunning feature

Making over your home doesn’t need to cost a fortune - in fact, you’d be surprised how much money you can save by taking on a DIY job yourself.

Visiting budget retailers also helps, as Daniel Huszar found out when he decided to do up his lounge.

The 30-year-old used cheap wallpaper from B&M which cost just £9.99 to create a stunning panelling feature wall - and he is thrilled with the results.

The entire transformation cost Daniel, who lives in Durham and works in quality assurance, just £13.

Daniel was inspired to makeover his lounge after spotting some wallpaper panelling ideas on Facebook and decided to replicate this to bring his “cold” living room to life.

He told money-saving Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK : "I rearranged the lounge, moved the TV over and measured the gap between the frames.

"I then started putting up the paper and used two and a half widths for this.

"The wallpaper was from B&M, it’s called 'Wooden Slats Wallpaper' and it cost £9.99 for a roll which was more than enough for the feature.

"The wallpaper paste mix cost £2.99 so it was a total of less than £13 to create the feature.”

Daniel said the whole job took around an hour and a half to do - despite him having never put wallpaper up himself before.

He started by holding the roll of a wallpaper at the top of the wall, then allowing it to drop to the bottom so he knew what size he needed.

“I cut this to size and then pasted the paper and put it on the wall,” he said.

“I just fiddled around with the paper till it was right and matched up with no gaps.

"A tip for novices would be to get a paper that doesn’t have a difficult match, as that would’ve been much harder.

“I was anxious at first, prior to doing this, as I had never wallpapered before.

"But, once I took the jump and did the first strip, I thought 'I can actually do this!’

"I really love the wall and am proud that I did it myself. It’s made the room feel so much warmer, with a feature and focus rather than just plain walls with some pictures on them."

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: “Daniel’s fantastic transformation shows that you really don’t need to break the bank to make a difference to your home.

“Just a simple material from B&M has totally changed the look of Daniel’s lounge, and best of all, it only took him an hour and a half to do it.”
