DIY chain Homebase links up with Tesco in in-store roll-out

Tesco shoppers will soon be able to pick up paintbrushes with their pasta, thanks to a new partnership with DIY chain Homebase.

The move will see Homebase bringing its products to the UK’s largest supermarket chain as part of a roll-out starting this month. The first store inside a Tesco Extra store opened in Borehamwood, Essex, followed by stores in Manchester and London next month.

For those who prefer shopping online, a Click and Collect service will allow customers to place their order on the Homebase website and collect at Tesco within one hour, although customers will not collect any Clubcard points with Homebase purchases. Customers will also be able to browse kitchen, bathroom, and lighting displays to gather inspiration to plan bigger projects and a team of Homebase experts will be on hand in each shop.

Damian McGloughlin, chief executive officer of Homebase, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with Tesco, bringing our home and garden products and expertise to even more local communities. We’re always looking for ways to make it easier for customers to shop with us and teaming up with Tesco means we’re able to do just that.”

This latest partnership follows Homebase’s tie-up with Next, which saw 11 Homebase garden centres open in Next stores throughout the country, including one pop-up in North Shields this month. Key categories in the Homebase link-up will include paint, power tools, home accessories and hardware, as well as outdoor furniture, garden decorations, firepits and lanterns.
