Dixon Road incident: Man rushed to hospital after explosion at house in Whitburn

There has been an explosion at a house in West Lothian, with police and other emergency services currently on the scene.

The male householder has been rushed to hospital by ambulance although the extent to his injuries are currently unknown.

Neighbours, on Dixon Road, Whitburn, have been evacuated and emergency teams are currently trying to establish the cause of the explosion.

Police were alerted to the incident at around 9.30am this morning (Tuesday, 8 December).

Officers arrived a short time later and closed the street. People are being urged to avoid the area at this time.

Police say emergency services remain at the scene and are being assisted by the "relevant utility company". West Lothian Council are also aware.

A police spokesperson said "enquiries are continuing" as they bid to establish the full circumstances.
