'Diwali becomes even more special...': PM Narendra Modi congratulates Team India

NEW DELHI: In a warm gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team on Sunday for their remarkable victory against the Netherlands in a World Cup match. He expressed his joy at the team's outstanding performance, particularly highlighting KL Rahul's century and Shreyas Iyer's brilliant knock of 128.

Modi also extended his best wishes to the players as they prepare for the high-stakes semi-final clash against New Zealand on Wednesday.

The Indian team's commanding win over the Netherlands, securing its ninth consecutive victory in the World Cup, added to the festive spirit of Diwali. KL Rahul's century and Shreyas Iyer's stellar innings propelled India to a comprehensive 160-run triumph, helping the team finish the league engagements with 18 points.

"Diwali becomes even more special thanks to our cricket team! Congratulations to Team India on their fantastic victory against the Netherlands! Such an impressive display of skill and teamwork," Modi shared on X.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming semifinals, Modi added, "Best wishes for the Semis! India is elated." The Prime Minister's encouragement adds to the collective spirit and support for the Indian cricket team as they gear up for a crucial showdown against New Zealand.
