Divock Origi: Former Liverpool and AC Milan forward announces retirement from football

  • Former Liverpool striker Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31.
  • Origi became a cult hero at Anfield, renowned for scoring crucial goals, including a double against Barcelona and a goal in the 2019 Champions League final victory over Tottenham.
  • He also famously scored a stoppage-time winner in a Merseyside derby, one of his six goals against Everton.
  • During his time at Liverpool, he made 175 appearances, scoring 41 goals, and was part of the squads that won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.
  • After leaving Liverpool, Origi played for AC Milan and had a loan spell at Nottingham Forest before terminating his Milan contract last December and deciding to end his playing career.
