Division 2 keeps crashing – How to fix

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has plenty of content to enjoy in mid-2025, and we also have a Payday collab ongoing (as of writing on July 15). Unfortunately, there are still reported crashes on PC, and they seem to have increased since the recent update.

Thankfully, there are some easy fixes available for the players to try out. They might not miraculously fix the crashes, but you'll encounter them a lot less. Additionally, you'll also reduce incidences of lost progression (if the crashes happened during a long mission, you'll lose all your rewards and restart from the beginning).

The Division 2 crash fixes and solutions

One of the biggest reasons the game crashes on PC is directly linked to Ubisoft's launcher. You'll have to run the launcher even if you purchased the game on Steam. An easy fix for the problem is to reinstall the launcher from scratch. You'll have to uninstall and then re-download the launcher to complete the process from Ubisoft's official website. This is my trusted method whenever I experience too many crashes.

Here are a few extra steps that you can take to reduce crashes and improve the general gameplay experience.

  • Updated graphic drivers: It's always beneficial to update your drivers to the latest available version. This is true for both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, and not doing so can cause crashes in many video games. If you haven't updated in a while, check for a possible new version. If an update is available, it will automatically download and install on your setup.
  • Cap the FPS: The Division 2 might be a relatively old game in 2025, but it's still resource-intensive. It's better to cap the FPS to 60 to enjoy the game without putting too much load on your processors. This will automatically translate into smoother gameplay and a reduced chance of crashes.
  • Disable V-Sync: Running V-Sync shouldn't be a problem, but I have observed that the instances of crashes radically go up when Virtual Sync is turned on for my client. I am unsure what the exact reason is, but turning it off improves the performance significantly.

That's basically all you do to minimize or eradicate crashes in The Division 2.
