Diversity's Jordan Banjo says 20,000 BGT complaints 'make him sick'

Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo has hit out at the 20,000 complaints made after their moving Britain's Got Talent performance.

He said the complaints and racist abuse directed at the dance troupe "make him sick" after his brother Ashley Banjo was trolled on social media.

Their routine, which was performed earlier this month, was influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement and the treatment of black people by the police.

Jordan reposted a comment that a troll sent to Ashley, telling the dancers to "go live in Africa".

The troll said: "If you don't like living in a white country, go live in Africa.

"I think you would genuinely feel more comfortable there. As would I if you did."

Jordan posted it on his own Instagram account and defended his brother and Diversity co-stars.

He said: "And people wanted to complain about us?

"People wanted to complain and say there isn't an issue. Makes me sick."

The moment has received over 20,000 complaints to broadcast regulator OfCom.

It is close behind the most complained moment of all time, which was Roxanne Pallett's Celebrity Big Brother 'punchgate' drama with Ryan Thomas, which saw 25,327 complaints.

Ashley has hit out at the complaints in a statement, saying: "It's been a lot, everything from racial abuse to threats, to just some really nasty stuff.

"I'm not going to give light to it, I'm not going to give it any more time than it deserves.

"But a lot of the negativity, the nastiness, and the racism shows exactly why these performances and exactly why this conversation that has arisen is so necessary.

"Racism is very real, I've known it before and I definitely know it now."
