Diversions in place as M32 closed northbound after fatal incident

Diversions have been set up in Bristol after the sudden death of a man closed part of the M32 northbound this morning.

The incident happened at around 9am (Monday 9th August) between junction 3 A4320 Easton Way (St Pauls) to junction 2 B4058 Stapleton Road (Eastville).

Highways England released a statement saying "Road users are being advised the solid back triangle diversion symbol on road signs and leave the M32 at J3 and take the 4th exit at the roundabout back onto the A4032 heading south."

"Follow the A4032 to the roundabout with the A38 and take the 3rd exit onto the A38 heading north. Continue on the A38 to the junction with the B4469 at Horfield and turn right onto the B4469 heading east. Follow the B4469 back to the M32 and rejoin the M32 at J2 heading northbound".

Traffic is currently being diverted onto the A38 from the Bearpit roundabout.

Metrobus (m1/m3) and First buses (M1/M3/T1/Y1/Y2/Y3/Y4/Y5) are also currently being delayed due to the road closures.

First buses are being rerouted via Bond St South, Old Market, Stapleton Rd Robertson Rd, Muller Rd, M32 Jct 2 and Metrobuses via Stapleton road.

Congestion has been built up along the M32 and onto A4044 past Cabot Circus and adjacent to Castle park.

Highways England said "Highways England Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management".

Delays are expected to last until 1.45pm.

Trapped traffic will be turned around by police.
