Diversions in place after M32 closed due to serious crash

Drivers heading into Bristol city centre this morning will face disruption following a serious police incident.

An investigation has been launched by police following the serious collision which has left a woman with life-threatening injuries after her car was involved in a crash between Junctions 2 and 3.

The collision happened just before 2.40am on the southbound section of the motorway. The 18-year-old male driver of the other vehicle involved has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drugs and failing to stop. The M32 was closed inbound between junctions 2 and 3 and the A4044 was also currently shut outbound from the Bearpit roundabout in the city centre towards the M32.

Here are the details for the diversions in place:

For the M32:

Road users are advised to follow the solid black circle diversion symbol on road signs.

  • Exit the M32 at J2 and join the B4469 westbound.
  • Proceed west along the B4469 to its junction with the A38 at Horfield.
  • At the junction turn left and join the A38 southbound.
  • Proceed south to St. James Barton Roundabout and continue your journey.

For local traffic in Bristol, the following diversions are in place:

  • Eastbound diversion route: Stokes Croft - City Road - Ashley Rd - Lower Ashley Rd - Easton Way - Clarence Rd - West St - Old Market
  • Westbound diversion route: Temple Way Slip Rd - Old Market Roundabout - Old Market - Lamb Street - Trinity Rd - Clarence Rd - Easton Way - Lower Ashley Rd - Ashley Rd - City Rd - Stokes Croft
