Divergent by Veronica Roth - review

Divergent is the first book in a trilogy of books by Veronica Roth. The second book is Insurgent and the third Allegiant – due out October 2013.

This book is set in a divided society where once you are 16 you have to make a choice that will affect the rest of your life. The world is divided into 5 factions and you are sorted into factions by your personal qualities. Once you turn 16 you take a aptitude test to show which faction you would be most suited to. But the main character Beatrice's results are slightly different from everyone else's. She is Divergent. Having lived in the faction Abnegation - for the selfless - all of her life she is expect to stay there but she chooses not to. She chooses to enter the faction Dauntless – for the brave. She is faced with meeting new friends, conquering her fears and this book follows her journey with learning to cope with being divergent and also how to decisions she makes effect her.

This book is a highly anticipated film which is due to come out next year with the stunning cast, I'm sure it will not be a let down.

This book captivated me from the very beginning and I loved and hated all the characters in the book, for the right reasons. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fast paced book full of adventure with also a hint of romance. This book is simply a must read.
