Unlikely though it sounds, circus company Dark Horse have created a show based on socialist historian Eric Hobsbawm's vision of a society in the new millennium. The result isn't enirely convincing, but you've got to cheer this group for injecting ideas into juggling and taking British circus into the theatre.
Sequences that illustrate The Rise and Fall of Great Ideologies and The Generalised Improvement in Living Standards jostle with two men doing oral juggling who are alone worth the price of admission. The idea of circus as a force for social change is agreeably mad, and all this charming, effective piece needs is a sharper script to hold it together.
