Disused betting shop could be transformed into pub

A disused town centre betting shop could be turned into a pub, if plans are given the green light.

Architecture and interior design company IMD and Associates have submitted plans to transform the former Betfred store in Deansgate, Bolton.

The company, which specialises in pubs, hotels, and restaurants, is the design team behind the stylish Eagle and Child in Ramsbottom, which was recently voted as having one of the best beer gardens in the UK.

Under the proposals, the building would become a pub, creating five jobs in the process - four part-time and one full-time.

Drawings show that the bar would be towards the back of the building and there would be 'high seating' opposite the front door.

Its proposed opening hours are midday to 1am through the week and midday to 4am on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

The building has been part of the town centre for a long time and was previously Martins Bank, prior to becoming Betfred.

Bolton Council has delegated the application, which means that it will be decided by a planning officer rather than a committee.
