Disturbing video footage shows 'baseball bat' thugs ramming Mercedes into house

Shocking video footage has emerged showing a gang of thugs ramming a Mercedes into a house before attacking it with 'baseball bats'.

The drama unfolded at a property in Manchester Road, Bury, in the early hours of Monday morning (October 4).

The video shows a vehicle - which appears to be a Ford Focus - being repeatedly reversed into the Mercedes which was parked on the driveway of the semi-detached home.

The Mercedes begins to sound as a number of men can be seen running towards the property while shouting.

The men - who eyewitnesses said were carrying baseball bats - then proceed to smash a number of windows at the front of the house.

As the vehicle continues to reverse into the Mercedes, a voice can be heard to shout "keep going" over and over.

The same voice then adds: "F*** with me, you motherf*****s. F*** with me again."

The house was left badly damaged following the incident, which happened at about 12.40am.

Pictures from the scene taken on Monday morning show the Mercedes embedded in the front of the semi-detached property.

Damage to a number of windows is also visible.

Detectives have today revealed that a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

He remains in custody for questioning.

Following the incident, residents living nearby said they had been left ‘scared, shocked, and confused'.

“Two or three boys came out in black hoodies and white masks,” said Uzma Raja, who lives nearby.

“The boys had baseball bats.

“They smashed the windows, 20 or 30 times. They were screaming and shouting.”

However, Ms Raja said the incident is the first of its kind she has witnessed in her three years living in Bury.

The 38-year-old added: “It is quite nice [here]. This has never happened, it’s the first time.

“I am a little bit worried. The kids are worried.”

Detective Inspector Alison Witkiewicz of Greater Manchester Police's Bury district, said: "Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this disturbance but it could have resulted in a far worse outcome.

"Since the report we've been following multiple lines of enquiry and have since arrested one male in connection with the incident. Although we've made an arrest our enquiries will continue and I would encourage anyone with information, or footage, to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency."
