Disturbing The Holiday fan theory will completely change how you watch the film

It's one of the most iconic Christmas movies of all time that never fails to bring festive joy.

But fans of The Holiday have come up with a haunting theory that will change the way you view the festive flick forever.

Starring Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, this feel good rom-com - which was released 15 years ago - has us all laughing, crying and longing to spend Christmas in a snow-covered cottage in the countryside.

That was until one fan spilled their theory on the film which has a pretty spooky plot line - and it may send shivers down your spine.

Taking to Reddit, the fan theorised that actually the movie is a murder plot.

They shared that Iris (Kate Winslet) and her widower brother Graham (Jude Law) are actually luring Amanda (Cameron Diaz) over to the UK in a bid to murder her and steal her money.

The fan penned: "This idea makes the mediocre Christmas movie so much more entertaining.

"Kate Winslet and Jude Law are laying a trap where he will seduce Cameron Diaz, marry her, kill her, and inherit her fortune.

"Now he and his sister have used the house swap scheme to get Cameron Diaz into their town while Kate Winslet can investigate and make sure [Amanda Woods] has enough money and property (and no family/entanglements) to be worth the effort of seducing her and then disposing of her.”

The fan also suggests that Graham killed his first wife in a bid to inherit her home.

The fan continued: "Meanwhile, Jude carefully sets up an ‘accidental’ meeting and manipulates Cameron to develop a relationship and get his claws into her. Everything that follows is orchestrated to carry out their plot.

“Kate Winslet was maybe also planning to seduce and marry the old screenwriter and wait for him to die and leave his house/fortune until Jack Black interfered.”

Whether you choose to believe this chilling plot is up to you, but we all we can say is - we're sorry if we've ruined The Holiday for you!
