Disturbed frontman apologizes for calling out texting concertgoer

April 01--Disturbed frontman David Draiman apologized for calling out a woman texting during the Chicago band's concert in Dallas last week after the woman told a newspaper that she was making sure her teenage daughter got home safe.

"I feel badly about it, and I am sorry. I never want anyone to leave one of our shows feeling badly," Draiman told loudwire.com in a story posted online Friday. "The whole idea is to pull them and to make them feel empowered and sometimes you've got to be a little forceful when you do that and if she got rubbed the wrong way, that is something that I regret."

At the March 23 show, Draiman addressed the crowd and singled out a woman in the balcony for texting.

"You've had your face in your (expletive) phone the whole (expletive) show. Are we that boring?," Draiman asked the woman.

The Dallas Observer identified the woman as Shannon Pardue, who said she wasn't texting the entire show but she did message with her 14-year-old daughter about traveling amid storms in the area. She said she felt alienated as Draiman scolded her.

"Rock stars wouldn't be where they are without people who come to pay for the show," Pardue said. "Whether I had my eyes on him or not, I am still there and I can hear them. He's an amazing singer, and they were good, but it was just his attitude. I'll never pay to see him again nor will my friends."

Disturbed is set to perform July 16 at the Chicago Open Air Festival at Toyota Park in Bridgeview in support of its 2015 album "Immortalized."
