Distressing footage shows man throttling small dog on wasteland near Blanchardstown

A video showing a man cruelly grab a small dog by its throat and shake it like a rag doll has caused outrage on social media.

The grim footage - which shows the brute throttle what looks like a springer spaniel while supposedly trying to train the poor pup - was taken on wasteland at Damastown Industrial Estate near Blanchardstown in the past week.

The little dog is seeing running away and cowering after the man lunges at it.

The distressing clip was shared on a local neighbourhood watch Facebook page, along with a plea to locals asking them to report the man if they see him there again.

The post says: "This individual needs to be found and the dog taken away from him.

"If anyone knows anything about this or sees it happening please contact the DSPCA on 01 4994700 or the Gardai.

"When he left he took the poor dog with him so is obviously using that space to try and train the dog.”

It's understood that both the Gardai and the DSPCA have been informed and Dublin Live has contacted both organisations in relation to the matter.
