Distraught pet owner denies making up chihuahua seagull story

The owner of a dog stolen by a seagull that made national headlines has denied making up the story.

Becca Hill took to social media to issue an appeal after her beloved pet chihuahua was pickled up by a bird and carried off.

The 24-year-old claims the incident was witnessed by her partner on Sunday afternoon (July 21),  reports Devon Live .

Speaking to the Sun she said: "I don’t know how people can be so awful.

"People have been saying I made it all up but my boyfriend saw it all.

"I’m just hoping he’s been dropped somewhere and can’t get out, or he’s on a roof and can’t get down.

The four-year-old dog called Gizmo was in the garden of Becca Hill's house in Paignton (Devon Live)

“But until I know exactly what’s happened I won’t be able to rest – he’s my baby and I really miss him and want him back home. I’m in bits.”

Gizmo is still missing and several people are attempting to find the four-year-old dog. Anyone with information is asked to call 07774724797.

An RSPB spokesman said: "This must be extremely upsetting for the dog's owner. Fortunately these types of incidents are very rare and not typical gull behaviour."
