Distraught North Ayrshire couple issue heartfelt appeal for help over missing dog Nala

A heartbroken newlywed couple are appealing for information about their lost puppy Nala who ran off after being spooked by fireworks.

Sarah and Graeme Wilkinson, from Ardrossan, haven’t seen their 14-month ‘baby’ Nala since Friday night while they were visiting family in Well Street in Stevenston.

Graeme, 34, explained: “They were the loudest fireworks I’ve ever heard.

“Normally Nala is fine with them, but one just went off above her head and she panicked and bolted.”

Nala is a chocolate coloured Spaniel Labrador cross, with dipped white paws, who her owner Sara describes as having a  ‘flame of white’ on her nose. She was last seen wearing a red collar.

Graeme and Sarah are overwhelmed with the support they have received from the community.

Graeme explained: “When she first got out of the garden, I ran after her, but she was too fast. People started coming out of their houses to help us look for her.

“Everybody has just been tremendous, it’s unbelievable so many people  – some strangers – are giving up their time to help us bring Nala home.”

Sarah added: “It’s phenomenal so many people are helping us. It keeps you going.”

The distraught couple have been getting as little as two hours sleep a night since Nala went missing.

“We got married in March and even took Nala on our ‘mini-moon’ to Arran with us, she comes with us everywhere,” said Sarah.

The 27-year-old added: “I didn’t come home till 4am this morning, we had a report she was sighted at Ardrossan South Beach where we take her on walks.

“It’s horrible.”

The couple describe Nala as a ‘loving, gentle wee diva’.

They said: “She’s just so adorable and gets so excited when we come home from work her whole body shakes because her tail is wagging so fast.

“She loves everybody and plays with other animals and kids.

“Nala’s a wee princess, we don’t have any kids ourselves so she’s like our baby.”

Sara and Graeme have given advice to those who believe they have sighted Nala. They advised: “Please don’t shout her name because she may think she’s in trouble and run away.

“Make soft, gentle noises and try and approach her slowly.

“If you can, please take a picture of her and sent it to us on Facebook.”

Anyone with any information on Nala’s whereabouts are urged to call Sarah or Graeme on 07792670696 or 07870563928.
