Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Edinburgh: Convoy of classy bikers will parade through streets

Motorbike riding is about to get a lot more classy.

A fleet of "distinguished gentlemen" on classic motorcycles will be taking to the streets of Edinburgh this weekend.

Rather than wearing ancient leather vests and frayed denim, they will be dressed to the nines in suits, cravats and other finery.

It's part of a global event to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health as part of the Movember Foundation.

Thousands of bikers in cities across the world are taking part in Distinguished Gentlemen's Rides.

The Edinburgh event sets off from the Edinburgh Triumph, Two Wheels showroom on Peffermill Road at 11am on Sunday, September 29.

Organisers explain: "The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper, sitting atop a classic bike and wearing his finest suit.

"Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often negative stereotype of motorcyclists, while connecting niche global motorcycle communities together."

The dress code has been described as: "Monocles, jaunty trimmed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits."

Last year more than 100,000 bikers took part in rides across the world, raising millions for the Movember Foundation.
