Essential maintenance repair work is set to cause disruption to a number of Metrolink services next weekend (May 15-17).
Track replacement works are scheduled to take place near the Cornbrook Metrolink stop beginning at 1:30am on Saturday, May 15.
The work, which is expected to last for 54 hours, will result in a full closure of the Eccles and Trafford Park lines.
The Altrincham, East Didsbury and Airport lines will see some disruptions with services terminating at either Trafford Bar or Firswood.
Replacement buses will operate between Old Trafford and Piccadilly, Chorlton and Victoria and along both the Eccles and Trafford Park lines.
Signed pedestrian walking routes will also be in place while Customer Service Representatives will be at stops in order to help direct passengers towards the nearest replacement bus stop.
The affected services are set to resume operation as of the first tram in service on the morning of Monday, May 17.
“We regularly carry out renewal work on Metrolink as part of a continued programme to maintain the safety and reliability of the network,” Danny Vaughan, Head of Metrolink for Transport for Greater Manchester, said.
“Unfortunately, these works will mean some short-term inconvenience for some passengers that weekend and I’d encourage anyone travelling to plan their journey in advance and allow extra time where possible.”
Services affected are as follows:
- Eccles Line – full closure
- Trafford Park Line – full closure
- Altrincham Line – services will terminate at Trafford Bar
- East Didsbury Line – services will terminate at Firswood
- Airport Line – services will terminate at Firswood
