It's been confirmed that "disruption" to bin collections will continue for the rest of the week to one area of Merseyside.
People living in Sefton have had ongoing delays with the emptying of their bins as Sefton Council confirmed it was battling staff shortages due to sickness as well as successive bank holidays. Now, the council has confirmed that people should expect further delays over the course of the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.
The council took to social media to share the news that they will have a reduced number of staff working which will "impact collections". It was also confirmed that crews will be catching up on any missed collections after the bank holiday.

The statement published on social media said: "Ahead of the Jubilee Bank Holiday, we would like to give residents notice of possible disruption to bin collections over this period. We will be operating on a reduced staff resource which will impact collections and some residents may not receive collections on the planned day.
"However, we ask all residents to continue to present their bins for collection. Our crews will be catching up on missed collections following the Bank Holiday. We understand how frustrating it has been for local residents in recent weeks due to the disruption to regular collections, particularly the green bin collection which has been heavily impacted.
"We would like to thank Sefton residents for their continued patience during this time as we work to clear the backlog."
Last month the council also revealed that binmen working in the borough had been abused following the initial delays.
