Disruption coming to the heart of Team Valley - and it will last for FOUR months

Essential gas mains replacement work will lead to a partial lane closure on a busy road through the heart of Team Valley.

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) confirmed the work will be carried out on Kingsway South, Gateshead, from Thursday, May 9 through to Wednesday, September 25.

The gas distributor has worked in collaboration with Gateshead Council in an attempt to minimise disruption to customers and road users.

The outside lane of Kingsway South will be closed in 80 metre stretches to allow for engineers to carry out the necessary works.

In an attempt to minimise rush-hour delays, the work will be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Darren Pearson, site manager at NGN, said “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority, and closing the inside lane is essential in ensuring the public and our workforce stay safe at all times.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We will keep businesses and road users updated throughout the work.”
