A DISQUALIFIED driver from Weston has been caught by police allegedly travelling more than 50 kilometres over the speed limit while under the influence of drugs.
About 10.30pm Friday police were patrolling the Pacific Highway at Nabiac when they checked the speed of a northbound vehicle which was travelling at 154km in the 100km area.
When asked to produce her licence the 43-year-old woman stated that she was disqualified from driving. Further checks revealed the driver had been disqualified since 2006 and was not able to regain her licence until 2025.
The driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which proved positive. She was conveyed to Taree police station where she underwent a further drug test which proved positive to methylamphetamine.
The driver was charged with driving at speed and driving whilst disqualified with drug driving charges pending. She will appear in Taree Local Court in January 2021.
