Disqualified driver arrested having just left prison for same offence

A man has been arrested with their car seized after being found to be disqualified from driving. They had only just left prison for committing the same offence.

Police say they stopped the Peugeot car in Westbourne Avenue, Leigh, while on patrol earlier today. This was after it was found the driver had been disqualified until 2024.

The driver had only just left prison for the offence of driving whilst disqualified, according to police. They were arrested and their car was seized.

The driver is set to appear in court tomorrow morning (May 18). A GMP Traffic Tweet said: "The driver of the Peugeot was stopped on Westbourne Avenue Leigh by #SRTTaskingTeam patrols.

"Found to be disqualified until 2024 and had only recently come out of prison for the same offence. #arrested #carseized he will be remanded to appear at court in the morning."
