Disqualified driver allegedly blew 0.200 after reported erratic driving through the suburbs

A 58-year-old woman who had been disqualified from driving until 2031 has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly drink-driving in Charlestown on Thursday.

Police say they found the woman sitting in the driver's seat of a black Mazda sedan around 10.30am after they were called to the scene by another driver who had allegedly captured the car on dash-cam travelling erratically through the suburb.

Police said they inspected the parked car and found fresh damage which they say was likely caused by an earlier collision.

The front of the vehicle was damaged, police said, and there were white marks on the front passenger-side fender.

On request for identification, police said the woman at first handed over a NSW driver's license belonging to another person before eventually producing a photo identification card in her own name.

The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test, which police said produced a positive reading, before she was taken to Belmont Police Station where she allegedly returned a breath test reading of 0.200.

Police allege the woman had admitted drinking a 700ml bottle of vodka between 7pm and 1am Wednesday night.

Officers checked the woman's driver's license and found she was disqualified from driving until August 2031.

Police contacted the owner of the other driver's license, who said it had been missing for six months. Police claim that the woman then said that she obtained the false license by opening the owner's mail.

The woman faces a string of charges, including high range drink driving, driving while disqualified, and possession of suspected stolen goods, and is due to face court on Friday.

She was refused bail.
