A high-speed pursuit through the suburbs, which police allege reached speeds around 145 kilometres per hour, ended in a fiery crash and charges for a 21-year-old disqualified driver in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Central Coast.
Police allege a Toyota Corolla was seen travelling at speed through roadworks on the Pacific Highway at Lisarow 1.40am, and failed to stop when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over.
Police initiated a pursuit, as the vehicle continued through several suburbs and streets, allegedly reaching speeds of up to 128km/hr in sign-posted 40km/hr and 50km/hr zones.
The Toyota continued onto Henry Parry Drive at speeds of approximately 145km/hr, before the vehicle left the road and collided with a concrete barrier and a power pole.
All three occupants - a man and two women - were able to free themselves before the vehicle caught alight.
Officers arrested all three a short time later; the driver - a 21-year-old Kincumber woman - was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for a pre-existing injury and mandatory testing.
She has since been released and taken to Chatswood Police Station, where she was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerous, exceed speed (more than 45km/h) and drive whilst disqualified.
She was refused bail and appeared at Hornsby Local Court today, where she was formally refused bail to reappear at Gosford Local Court on Thursday, July 22.
Two passengers - a 23-year-old North Avoca woman and a 16-year-old boy - were also taken to hospital for assessment. They were released without charge.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is continuing.
