A pyramid made of 1,831 hina dolls from across the nation was unveiled Friday at a facility in Konosu, Saitama Prefecture.

Konosu is known for producing the traditional dolls. The 31-level pyramid, which is about seven meters high, is part of the Konosu Bikkuri Hina Matsuri (Konosu surprising hina doll festival), which is marking its 14th year.

The display attracted shoppers, with some marveling at it from the second floor.

"It's powerful and splendid," said a 30-year-old homemaker who visited the facility with her 1-year-old daughter.

The display will be at the facility until March 11.
