Disneyland to throw its first 'Princess Nite' after-hours party in new year

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Disney Princesses are the latest party theme to join Disneyland’s growing lineup of after-hours limited-time events at the Anaheim theme park with the Valentine’s-themed Sweethearts’ Nite also making a return engagement in 2023.

Tickets for Princess Nite and Sweethearts’ Nite Disneyland After Dark events went on sale Dec. 12 for Magic Key annual passholders and on Dec. 14 for the general public.

Sweethearts’ Nite after-hours parties will take place on Jan. 31, Feb. 2, 5, 7, 9, 14 and 16 at Disneyland. Princess Nite runs on March 7 and 9 at Disneyland. Tickets start at $129 per event. All of the dates fall on Tuesday or Thursday nights.

Both events feature specialty-themed entertainment, character meet-and-greets, photo op backdrops, food and drinks, collectible merchandise, commemorative keepsakes and unlimited PhotoPass digital downloads along with select rides and shows.

Sweethearts’ Nite events include themed fireworks, a royal ball hosted by Aladdin and Jasmine in the Small World plaza, Mark Twain Riverboat jazz cruise, Polynesian island music in Tropical Hideaway and “Little Mermaid” and “Lady and the Tramp” photo op backdrops.

Princess Nite events include a royal welcome with Minnie, Daisy Duck and fanfare trumpeters at the Disneyland Train Station, candy-themed dance party hosted by Vanellope Von Schweetz at the Tomorrowland stage, heroine-themed live concert with Moana and Merida, live jazz music with Tiana in New Orleans Square and “Princess Diaries” and “Beauty and the Beast” photo op backdrops.

Pre-party mix-in starts at 6 p.m. each night with the private event running from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. No theme park reservations are required to attend the separate-admission events. Parking is not included.

No word yet if and when any other Disneyland After Dark events will be announced for 2023. You can rest assured that Star Wars Nite will likely make a comeback in and around May the Fourth. Less certain are the return of Disneyland After Dark parties themed to Villains, Pixar, Grad Night and the 1980s and 1990s decades — which have come and gone through the years.
