Disneyland Paris evacuated as people seen screaming and running from theme park

Disneyland Paris has been evacuated amid reports of a loud noise believed to be from a faulty elevator at the park.

Reports emerged online around 9pm tonight that people have been told to stay in their hotels, with park goers saying they are 'on lockdown' inside restaurants.

Tourists can be seen running in all directions on a video posting online.

Social media users said the theme park had gone into panic, with the Mirror reporting that police and army are on the scene.

It is unclear at this stage what the cause of the incident is, however other reports online claim it is a false alarm over an elevator malfunction.

A spokesman for the RER station at Marne la Vallee said the faulty machinery sparked the panic.

"It seems that a malfunctioning escalator has caused the problems," he said.

"It began working erratically, and causing loud noises. It may be that some people have been hurt in this accident."

Disneyland has not yet confirmed whether the reports are true.
