Disney World reopening some theme-park restaurants

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Walt Disney World is adding a few of its theme-park restaurants and experiences back into its dining lineup. This phase of the resort's reopening process involves Disney's Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom, including a revised dining opportunity inside Cinderella Castle.

On Friday, Gaston's Tavern, a counter-service eatery offering snacks and nonalcoholic drinks, will reopen in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland.

On Sept. 24, visitors may return to Cinderella's Royal Table at Magic Kingdom. The sit-down restaurant that serves lunch and dinner will operate without character experiences, which have included assorted Disney princesses in the past.

On Sept. 25, Minnie's Seasonal Dining experience returns to Hollywood & Vine inside Disney's Hollywood Studios. There will be alterations for Minnie's Halloween Dine this year. Food will be served at the table; previously the event featured a buffet. Diners will "be able to wave and snap photos of your favorite characters such as Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse and their friends," according to the official Disney Parks Blog.

On Oct. 8, ABC Commissary reopens for lunchtime quick service at Hollywood Studios.

Reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table and Minnie's Halloween Dine can be secured as of Sept. 11 at disneyworld.com/dining or by using the My Disney Experience mobile app.

Dining reservations are separate from Disney World's parks reservation system, which requires visitors to possess a date-specific reservation in order to enter one of the four theme parks. A dining reservation alone will not ensure entry into the park, so be sure to book both a dining and park reservation before heading out.

The restaurants closed with the rest of Walt Disney World in mid-March in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic. Magic Kingdom reopened to the public on July 11; Hollywood Studios came back July 15.
