Disney star Cameron Boyce's official cause of death confirmed by coroner

Disney star Cameron Boyce's cause of death has been revealed to have been a sudden unexpected death in epilepsy'.

The 20-year-old died on July 6 while he was asleep at his North Hollywood home and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has confirmed that epilepsy was the cause of his death.

A statement from the coroner read: "The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner determined the cause of death for actor Cameron Boyce was sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

“On July 8, an autopsy was performed, and the cause and manner of death were deferred.”

“After additional testing, the cause of death was determined to be sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.”

The coroner concluded that Cameron's “manner of death was certified as natural.”

The confirmation comes a couple days after Cameron's family posted tributes to the late star.

The heartfelt tributes were led by his mother, Libby Boyce, who shared one of her favourites pics of them together on Instagram.

The snap showed the Disney star beaming as he looked at the camera alongside his mother.

Libby captioned the photo: "My sunshine”

Cameron's father, Victor, also shared a photo from the family album, posting a pic of when the Jessie star was a baby, which he captioned simply with a heart.

Speaking to People, Victor and Libby described Cameron as the 'rock of the family'.

They said: "There are no words to describe how moved we are by the tremendous outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, and the world.

"Thank you, everyone, for encircling us with your love and respect of Cameron and concern for our family."

Cameron was known to Disney fans for his roles in Jessie and Descendants, as well as appearing in the films Grown Ups and Eagle Eye.
