Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, will be temporarily closed from this Saturday until March 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak, the operator of the amusement parks, Oriental Land Co., announced on Friday.
A similar incident in recent years was when the two parks were closed all day on Oct. 12 last year due to Typhoon No. 19. This case is the first time that they have been closed for more than two weeks since the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, when they were closed for more than a month.
The Ikspiari commercial facility near JR Maihama Station on the Keiyo Line will also be closed through March 15.
The operator of the two amusement parks will refund or change the expiration date of tickets that have already been purchased.
Universal Studios Japan in Osaka will be also temporarily shut from Saturday to March 15, the amusement park operator announced on Friday.
A plan for tickets that have already been purchased for visits during the closure period will be announced on the park's official website at around 9 p.m. on Friday.
