Disney+ Lines Up ‘Big Sky’ And ‘Love, Victor’ For U.K. Star Launch

Disney+ DIS is adding more adult fare to its lineup in the coming weeks, with the U.K. launch date for its new brand, Star, set for February 23.

Disney+ announced on Monday that Star will be the exclusive U.K. home of new David E. Kelley drama Big Sky, which airs on ABC in the U.S., and Love, Victor, the Hulu drama based on the hit 2018 film, Love, Simon.

Big Sky, starring Vikings’ Kathryn Winnick and Ryan Phillippe, is described as “an intense thriller that follows private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt as they join forces with his estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt, to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to find the women before it’s too late.”

Love, Victor, meanwhile, was originally produced for Disney+ but later offloaded on to Hulu last year. “Set in the world of the original 2018 film Love, Simon, the series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation,” said Disney+. “When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.”

What is Disney+ Star?

Beginning February 23, Star will join Disney+ as its sixth content brand, joining tiles that currently include Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

The streaming network said that the new brand will “double the amount of content” available to watch on Disney+” as it adds new and old programming and movies from Disney’s extensive archive, both produced in-house and acquired through its consolidation of 20th Century Fox and 20th Century Television.

Disney+ has confirmed that in the U.K., Star will also feature the following:

  • 24
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Lost
  • The X-Files
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Atlanta
  • Prison Break
  • Black-ish
  • The Die Hard movies

From February 23, the U.K. version of Disney+ will introduce parental locks to ensure that more adult fare on its Star brand can’t be accessed without a PIN code.
