Disney+ gets major upgrade

Disney+ has a major upgrade - (Disney)

Disney has launched an upgrade to its Disney+ streaming service for international subscribers, with a new top bar added to the top of the homepage.

The update was first launched in the United States last month, as part of Disney’s plans to integrate Hulu into Disney+.

Hulu will be fully integrated into the Disney+ app by 2026, ending the streaming company’s standalone platform.

"This will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, kids programming, news, and industry-leading live sports content all in a single app," Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger said during an earnings, as reported by CBS News.

The new navigation bar includes Disney+, Hulu and a new “For You” tab. The homebase is powered by an updated algorithm which learns user preferences over time.

Some international users also have access to an ESPN tab on the top navigation bar, however this will vary from country to country.

Disney announced an August 21 launch of an enhanced ESPN app, accessible in a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu for $29.99/month.

Other updates include new badging tags like “Season Finale,” “New Series,” and “New Movie” to show subscribers new content.

Disney+ subscribers may need to update their apps to get the new look, but over time, most apps will be automatically upgraded.
