Disney Details 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' 4K Blu-ray Release - Complete With Dolby Vision

Disney has finally released full details of its upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And it looks like the studio has really gone to town with it.
The latest Star Wars blockbuster will arrive in homes first via HD and 4K streams on Movies Anywhere on March 13, with the 4K Blu-ray going on sale on March 27.
This 4K Blu-ray release will carry the film in both the ‘standard’ HDR10 format, and the premium Dolby Vision HDR format that adds extra information to the HDR stream to optimize picture playback on Dolby Vision-capable TVs. (More information on Dolby Vision can be found here.)

Joining the hopefully high quality visuals will be a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, adding height channels and ultra precise effects placement to the sort of sound stages you get with lesser, non-‘object based’ audio systems. Star Wars: The Last Jedi marks the first time Disney has delivered one of its films on 4K Blu-ray in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Once you’ve indulged in the Dolbyfied Star Wars movie experience, you’ll be able to turn your attention to what looks set to be an impressive suite of extra features (likely predominantly found on the HD Blu-ray disc that will be packaged alongside the 4K one).
Potentially the star of the show will be a feature length ‘making of’ documentary, focusing on writer-director Rian Johnson’s journey to and through the film, taking in everything from the meaning of the Force to the film’s themes and break downs of some of the spectacular set pieces.
Johnson has also recorded an audio commentary track for the film, which could be fascinating given all the well-documented script rewriting issues reported during the film’s production. Assuming he’s allowed to talk about such things, of course.
There will also be 14 deleted scenes, all available with optional commentary so you can find out why they were cut, and a further two newly released sequences that show Andy Serkis in action on set before digital make-up was applied to turn him into the film’s Snoke character.
Naturally I’ll be doing a review of this likely somewhat popular 4K BD release as soon as I can get my hands on it.
