Disinterested Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard proved me right by Frank McAvennie

Frank McAvennie here.

By now you've probably seen the 'Celtic ace Odsonne Edouard hits back at Frank McAvennie' headlines.

You might even have seen the tweet that inspired them. Not me. You wouldn't catch this guy on Twitter. 'Twatter' I call it!!! Cry-laughing emoji.

Apparently the Celtic striker had a problem with me saying: "When I watched Edouard the other day he looked a wee bit disinterested. Like he did not want to be there."

Well, if he wants to avoid looking as foolish as he does today, maybe he should spend less time on social media and more time putting in some effort on the pitch.

I take no pleasure in saying 'I told you so', but Edouard's 'performance' yesterday vindicated everything I'd said.

When I look at the Premiership table this morning, I see Hamilton Accies at the bottom and Celtic at the top. Despite that, the so-called 'best striker in Scotland' only scored in three of the 90 minutes against them.

Clearly he wasn't interested in scoring during the 14th minute, or the 35th minute, or the 81st minute.*

And what about when he DID muster up enough enthusiasm to stick the ball in the net? When I was at Celtic, I had a unique bond with the crowd. I wanted to score for them, and they lapped up my goals.

Where was that relationship yesterday? Edouard has done so little to engage with the fans that they had to PUMP in crowd NOISE after his goals. If you show interest, you'll get interest back.  I think I've made my point.

You'll note that Edouard scored three times, meaning he had three opportunities to celebrate scoring a goal, and yet he didn't pick up a SINGLE yellow card for overcelebrating.

If he was genuinely interested, he would have got himself booked after his first two goals so that he could be sent off and watch the games he's suspended for in The Brazen Head like a REAL Celtic fan.

Anyone who's truly interested in Celtic would want to watch EVERY game, but Edouard was apparently TOO BUSY to watch yesterday's game live in the pub.

Still not convinced? Try this. When I was at Celtic it was drummed into us that we had to give our all from the first minute until the last, even when we were winning comfortably. Clearly Edouard didn't get that memo. I didn't see him run ONCE in the final four minutes of the game.

Apparently being 4-1 up entitles you to suddenly stop running. He could learn a thing or two from Patryk Klimala, who was actually MORE energetic in the last four minutes than he had been in the previous 86.

I'm sure you're already convinced and I don't want to labour the point, but I can't not point out his behaviour after the final whistle.

I watched every Celtic game last season (unlike a certain Frenchman who was too busy kicking a ball about to watch his supposed favourite team), and Neil Lennon had his players go over to thank the supporters EVERY time, win, lose or draw.

Did Edouard bother making his way over to the fans and thanking them at full time yesterday? I think you can work that one out by yourself.

Still trying to stick up for Edouard despite all this damning evidence? Sorry, but I'm just not interested.

NEXT WEEK: Scientists are still searching for a vaccine, so why hasn't Odsonne Edouard bothered to show up and put on a lab coat?
