'Disingenuous' Meghan Markle 'always planned to leave Royals' and Prince Harry is 'unrecognisable'

Meghan Markle has been labelled "disingenuous" and accused of always planning to leave the Royal Family, by a palace expert.

Biographer Robert Jobson said it was "ironic" how the Duchess won a privacy claim days before announcing she and Prince Harry were going on Oprah Winfrey's show to "talk about about their private lives".

He said that maybe if Mr Justice Warby had known that prior to the ruling over excerpts of a personal letter being published, he would have "looked at it in a different way".

"They have made a bit of a fool of him I think," he said, Mirror.co.uk reports.

Mr Jobson, speaking on True Royalty TV's weekly The Royal Beat programme earlier today, said Harry is "now barely recognisable", adding: "I think she [Meghan] is totally disingenuous."

"I think she had a plan from the outset that she wasn’t going to stick with it [The Royal Family] and it didn’t take long, before all that thanking the royal family.

"The royal family would have done their best to have helped her and they would have tried," he added.

Meanwhile, on the same episode, ex-Palace official Dickie Arbiter called the Sussexes' statement on their future "petulant, rude and immature".

The Duke and Duchess' official response to The Queen announcing they would not be returning as working royals has been criticised by a raft of experts, including the former press officer.

Harry and Meghan said earlier this month "service is universal" in what has been interpreted by some as a direct jibe at Her Majesty suggesting their current lives were unsuitable for central duties.

Despite having until March 31 to officially announce the pair's future, the Palace acted swiftly on the back of the couple announcing an upcoming interview with US chat show host Ms Winfrey.

They had also taken to social media in the days before that to announce they were expecting a second child.

Mr Arbiter, 81, who served the Queen from 1988 until 2000, said: "They are not going to rubbish the Royal Family, because it is not in their interest.

"So they will talk about the ‘suits’, how the officials didn’t back them up.

"They will certainly talk about what they are aiming to achieve; they will talk about family life, babies, and motherhood.

"They will talk about the British media because that sticks in the craw as fair as they are concerned."

Mr Jobson said: "The rudeness of the statement they issued after they left.

"Frankly, they have been given a lot of slack, but they were damn right rude to The Queen and the Royal Family."

Author and Vanity Fair Royal Correspondent Katie Nicholl then told the programme: "I think The Palace felt off guard about the pregnancy announcement [and] the Oprah announcement.

"It was clear that the Sussex’s were working as a machine in their own right - they weren’t working with the Palace.

"[Buckingham Palace] had made their minds up.

"They didn’t need until the 31st of March to make that statement.

"My understanding from the sources that I have spoken to at the Palace was that they would [release it] earlier and bring an end to all this speculation."

Also speaking on the programme, Mr Arbiter’s daughter, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter added: "This is Meghan and Harry trying to win over and woo Americans."

This episode of The Royal Beat is available now on True Royalty TV.
