'Disgusting treatment' - Tottenham fans react to Brighton sacking former Spurs man Chris Hughton

Tottenham fans have been reacting to Monday morning's breaking news that Chris Hughton has been sacked as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.

The former Spurs man had been in charge of the Seagulls since December 2014, leading the club to the Premier League via the playoffs at the end of the 2015/16 season. After relatively comfortable survival in the club's first Premier League season, the Seagulls poor form in the second half of the 2018/19 season saw then dragged into a relegation battle, but Hughton's men sealed their survival for a second season running with a couple of games to play.

Survival was obviously not enough for Brighton's hierarchy who have made the decision to part ways with the manager.

Hughton has a long running association with Tottenham. The 60-year-old played 60 times for his boyhood club, scoring three goals. The former Brighton manager also started his coaching career at White Hart Lane, managing the club's U18 and U23 sides before taking the assistant manager role under Martin Jol, Glenn Hoddle, David Pleat and Jacques Santini.

Before taking over at Brighton, Hughton managed Newcastle United, Birmingham City and Norwich City.
