'Disgusting' North Coast 500 hotel for sale at knockdown price

A Highland hotel branded 'disgusting' on Tripadvisor is up for sale with a fixed price tag of £195,000.

Conon Bridge Hotel in Wester Ross has attracted numerous scathing one-star reviews on the online travel guide. It has since shut down as the owners look to retire.

But with its position at the western tip of the Cromarty Firth, the venue has potential for development into a destination for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who travel the North Coast 500 route every year.

It is also a potential 'local' for people in Conon Bridge and other nearby villages and town of Dingwall.

The 12-bedroom venue in Wester Ross includes a restaurant with capacity for 40 diners, two bars and a beer garden. Its price has been reduced since originally going on the market for £285,000 in 2018.

Numerous Tripadvisor reviewers criticised its peeling decor, 'filthy' bathroom, stained carpet and rude bar service. But several praised the quality of the food served in the restaurant.

The business has been owned by the Proudfoot family and operated as a hotel for over 10 years. The sale is on a freehold basis.

Stuart Drysdale, director at selling agent Christie & Co, said: “The Conon Bridge Hotel has unfortunately closed due to unforeseen circumstances and presents an excellent opportunity for an individual or couple to re-establish this small hotel in the village. The property is ideally located to take advantage of visitors to the region and specifically the NC 500 route, starting from Inverness.”
